Lily Allen’s Label Liquidation: The Truth

LILY ALLEN's company, Lucy In Disguise, is still trading, despite contrasting reports. The brand's ready-to-wear collections, which were first launched in June 2011, entered liquidation last year, but its Soho store is still in operation.

Allen - who set up the business with her sister, Sarah Owen, in 2010 - has not been involved in the company since 2011. Owen now runs the label, having recently relaunched its website, Lucyindisguiselondon.com.
"We are very much still trading," Owen told us this morning. "It's an exciting time for us and we have a loyal customer base that we want to reassure - we are still in full swing. We specialise in party dresses, so Christmas is an important time of year for us."
The brand reportedly still owes £12,000 to an unnamed manufacturer. Its owner, Aurora Fashion, was granted a winding up order against the High Court earlier this year, according to tabloid speculation.
The business was the focus of a documentary series, named Rags to Riches, when it first launched. Its original concept was based on the idea of hiring out vintage attire to shoppers who couldn't afford to buy them outright, although the sisters later designed ready-to-wear collections under the label too.
