Angelina Jolie collected an honorary Oscar last night - the prestigious Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award - as husband Brad Pitt and 12-year-old adopted son, Maddox, sat in the audience. It was the first time her son has appeared on the red carpet.
The Evening Standard Theatre Awards this weekend celebrated Britain's leading acting talent, including David Walliams and Helen Mirren. The red carpet prompted a nervous tweet from Hayley Atwell, who struggled to walk in her floor-length Julien Macdonald gown.
Elsewhere, Dolce & Gabbana unveiled its Claridge's Christmas tree, bedecked in glittering lights; Selfridges opened its new "drive-thru" shopping experience; and Cameron Diaz was seen in an uncharacteristically nasty role as Miss Hannigan in the remake of Annie.
